Surefire Forum

Since 2018, the Surefire Baseball Forum has matched NCAA Division I administrators with top assistant baseball coaches from across the country.

Surefire was modeled after the Villa 7 networking event for college basketball, which Penry attended in 2012 at Nike’s campus in Oregon.

​Growing up in the Baton Rouge area at the height of LSU head coach Skip Bertman’s tenure in the late 80’s and early 90’s, Penry became a college baseball enthusiast. Surefire is his passion project.  

 

The purpose of Surefire is two-fold: prepare assistant coaches for head coaching roles and create more interest in college baseball among athletic administrators. 

 

Through six Surefire events, 37 of the 142 assistant coaches that attended have secured their first NCAA Division I head coach role.
